Former NFL defensive lineman Arthur Jones, the older brother of UFC champion Jon Jones and former NFL star Chandler Jones, has died at the age of 39, the Baltimore Ravens announced on Friday.

The cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Jones enjoyed a seven-year NFL career, playing for the Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, and Washington. Selected in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Syracuse, he earned recognition as an all-conference player before making his mark at the professional level.

One of his career highlights came during Super Bowl XLVII, where he recorded a sack, a fumble recovery, and two tackles, helping the Ravens secure a championship against the San Francisco 49ers. Over the course of his career, Jones posted 173 tackles, 10 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

In a statement, the Ravens remembered Jones as a beloved teammate and friend: “Arthur's presence was a gift to everyone he encountered. His big, bright smile, infectious energy and eternal positivity created a presence that continuously uplifted others.”

Jones was the eldest of the three athletic brothers. Chandler Jones spent 11 seasons in the NFL with the Patriots, Cardinals, and Raiders, while Jon Jones is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters in UFC history.

Arthur was often seen supporting his brothers, including attending Jon’s fight against Stipe Miocic in November.

The Ravens extended condolences to the Jones family, stating, “He was kind, courteous, and enthusiastic — always displaying a love for family, teammates and friends.”

Arthur Jones leaves behind a legacy of athletic success and dedication, remembered both for his contributions on the field and his support of his family.
