Jennifer Lopez names Brett Goldstein her 'No 1' rom-com co-star after 'Office Romance' chemistry
Lopez was initially surprised by Goldstein’s real personality after expecting him to resemble his Ted Lasso character

Jennifer Lopez has officially crowned Brett Goldstein her favourite romantic comedy co-star, calling the Office Romance actor and writer her “No. 1” leading man in the genre.
The actress made the comment while promoting Netflix’s upcoming rom-com Office Romance, which premieres on June 5 and stars Lopez opposite the Ted Lasso breakout star. Lopez, often referred to as one of Hollywood’s modern rom-com queens thanks to films including Maid in Manhattan, The Wedding Planner and Monster-in-Law, said her chemistry with Goldstein felt especially natural.
According to People, Lopez admitted she was initially surprised by Goldstein’s real-life personality after expecting him to resemble his gruff Ted Lasso character Roy Kent. Instead, she described him as warm, funny and “adorable”, qualities that ultimately strengthened their on-screen dynamic.
The pair star as co-workers who become romantically involved in the upcoming Netflix film, which Goldstein also co-wrote alongside Joe Kelly. Goldstein previously revealed he specifically wrote Lopez’s character with her in mind and believed the project would not exist without her involvement.
Their increasingly flirtatious press tour has also fuelled widespread online speculation about a possible off-screen romance. Rumours intensified after the two appeared especially affectionate during the film’s Los Angeles premiere and multiple promotional appearances.
However, Lopez recently shut down assumptions about her dating life during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, confirming that she is currently single following her divorce from Ben Affleck. She joked that she is finally enjoying being on her own and is not actively looking for a relationship.
Goldstein has also openly praised Lopez throughout the film’s press run, previously admitting he had admired her for years before they worked together. Lopez, meanwhile, recently revealed that she still finds filming kissing scenes “nerve-racking”, despite decades of romantic comedy experience.
Office Romance marks Lopez’s return to the rom-com genre after several dramatic and musical projects in recent years, while Goldstein continues expanding his career beyond comedy acting into screenwriting and leading-man roles.
