Robert Irwin has sparked a lighthearted “feud” with The Morning Show host Larry Emdur, jokingly calling him out in a post-performance interview after his latest Dancing With The Stars US appearance.
Speaking with entertainment reporter Dean McCarthy following his steamy salsa routine with dance partner Witney Carson, Irwin was prompted about his connection with The Morning Show hosts. “Larry Emdur. Larry bloody Emdur. The man, the myth, the legend,” Irwin said enthusiastically. He added with a grin, “We’re getting on a ‘Larry Emdur’ tonight — one hundred per cent,” referencing rhyming slang for going on a bender.
When asked if he had any dance moves for Emdur, Irwin cheekily replied, “I couldn’t teach him anything. I know the reputation. I know the stories, I’ve heard them all!”

This isn’t Irwin’s first mock rivalry with a Channel Seven personality. In 2022, he jokingly “threatened” Sam Mac’s role on Sunrise after temporarily filling in for the weatherman. At the time, Irwin told co-host Natalie Barr, “Sam Mac, I am coming for ya!” Sam later responded by calling Irwin a “snake in the grass,” humorously accusing him of job-stealing.
The friendly banter continued earlier this year after Irwin’s Bonds underwear campaign, which triggered a wave of playful trolling from fans. Sam Mac responded with a viral video pleading, “Stop sending it to me. Just let me live my life.”
Meanwhile, Irwin continues to impress on Dancing With The Stars US. This week, he and Carson danced a high-energy salsa to Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby,” which ended with Irwin dramatically removing his shirt. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba praised his performance, saying, “Robert Irwin is all grown up,” while Bruno Tonioli compared him to Chris Hemsworth. Despite Derek Hough’s critique of stiffness, the duo earned a score of 22, placing them third overall.
