ABC has officially renewed Dancing With the Stars for Season 34, set to premiere this fall. The hit reality competition series will air on ABC and Disney+, with next-day streaming available on Hulu.
The first celebrity contestant revealed for the upcoming season is wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin, marking a notable family connection to the show.
Robert Irwin, son of the late Steve Irwin and brother of Bindi Irwin, follows in his sister’s footsteps. Bindi famously won Season 21 of Dancing With the Stars in 2015 alongside professional dancer Derek Hough. Now, Robert is ready to take on the Mirrorball Trophy challenge himself.
In a recent interview with People, Irwin expressed his motivation: “I’m trying to do as many different and random exciting things… if it’s something that makes me a little bit nervous, that’s what I want to be doing.” The 20-year-old has recently gained attention for a bold campaign with Australian underwear brand Bonds, adding to his growing pop culture presence.
Season 33 of Dancing With the Stars saw a significant ratings boost, delivering the show’s best performance among adults 18-34 in four years and drawing a finale audience of 7.95 million—the largest in over three years. The finale also shattered voting records, with a total of 32 million votes cast.
The full celebrity cast and list of professional dance partners for Season 34 will be announced in the coming months. Produced by BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions, Dancing With the Stars continues to be one of ABC’s most popular unscripted series.
