Prince William has given a rare and candid update on Princess Kate’s health, describing 2024 as the hardest year of his life.
The Prince of Wales opened up during an appearance on the Apple TV+ series The Reluctant Traveller, hosted by actor Eugene Levy.
Speaking at Windsor Castle and later in a local pub, William discussed his family’s challenges following the cancer diagnoses of both his wife and his father, King Charles III. He reassured viewers that “things are good” and confirmed that “everything is progressing in the right way” with Kate’s recovery, calling her remission “great news.”
Reflecting on last year, the Prince admitted, “2024 was the hardest year that I’ve ever had,” noting the difficulty of protecting his children, supporting his wife, and caring for his father while managing royal duties. He emphasized that family pressures often outweigh the challenges of public service, saying, “It’s important my family feel protected and have the space to process a lot of the stuff that’s gone on.”
William also shared insight into parenting Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, explaining that he and Kate strive to create a safe and open environment at home. He revealed that the children are not allowed phones and are encouraged to balance academics with activities like trampolining, netball, ballet, football, and music.
When asked about Prince George’s future as King, William said his focus is on building a world his son can be proud of, one shaped by positive change rather than outdated traditions. He added that family remains his greatest priority, describing it as “the most important thing in my life.”
