Downtown Chicago turned into a scene straight out of a comedy film earlier today when a swarm of ICE agents was caught on camera chasing down a single man, reportedly a food delivery driver, after he allegedly made verbal comments. Importantly, there was no physical contact and no threats involved, yet the agents still gave chase. What happened next has gone viral across social media.

The video, which has been shared widely on social media, shows around ten agents sprinting after the man, who appears to still be carrying a delivery bag. The fact that a full squadron of agents was deployed against one unarmed delivery worker has sparked ridicule and outrage in equal measure.

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with passersby stunned at the spectacle of heavily armed agents running down city streets in formation. Some onlookers even cheered as the driver slipped out of reach. By the end of the clip, the officers appear exhausted, while the man disappears into the crowd, leaving ICE empty-handed.

Online reaction has been brutal. Memes comparing the agents to stormtroopers missing their target have already gone viral. Others joked that the delivery driver should be “signed to the Chicago Bears immediately” for his speed and agility. Meanwhile, critics have questioned why taxpayer money is being spent on such heavy-handed displays, especially given that no threat was posed.

This isn’t the first time ICE has been accused of overreach, but rarely has the criticism been so laced with humour. Social media users across platforms are using hashtags mocking the incident, with #DoorDashVsICE and #10v1 trending overnight. For many, the image of ten trained agents failing to capture a single food courier has become symbolic of deeper frustrations with the agency’s methods.

Whether seen as a serious overstep or just an absurd comedy of errors, one thing is clear: the viral clip has cemented itself as one of the internet’s strangest scandals of the week.
