J.K. Rowling has responded to Emma Watson’s recent interview on the “On Purpose With Jay Shetty” podcast by sharing a parody video of the actor’s remarks.
The spoof, created by comedian IntelLady, mimicked Watson’s appearance on the show. Rowling reposted the clip with the caption: “I’m here for all the spoofs.”

Watson, best known for playing Hermione Granger in Warner Bros.’ “Harry Potter” films between 2001 and 2011, addressed her public rift with the author for the first time in the interview.
The actor, who has largely stepped away from Hollywood in recent years, reflected on the fallout that began in 2020 after Rowling’s comments on the transgender community drew widespread criticism.
At the time, Watson joined co-stars such as Daniel Radcliffe in opposing Rowling’s statements, writing: “Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are.”
In later interviews, Rowling said she would “never forgive” the actors who publicly distanced themselves from her. Watson, speaking to Shetty, said she still valued her personal relationship with Rowling despite disagreeing with her views.
“I really don’t believe that by having had that experience and holding the love and support and views that I have, mean that I can’t and don’t treasure Jo and the person that I had personal experiences with,” she said.
Watson added that the lack of dialogue was the most upsetting aspect of their estrangement. “I think the thing I’m most upset about is that a conversation was never made possible,” she explained.
Asked if she would remain open to such a discussion, Watson said, “Yeah, and I always will. I believe in that completely.”
Rowling has not directly responded to Watson’s comments or opened a channel for conversation, but has instead shared the parody video shortly after the podcast aired.
