James Bond 26 eyes young, unknown British actor for 007 role

If the latest report from Deadline is accurate, fans hoping to see Henry Cavill or Idris Elba don the tuxedo as the next James Bond will be disappointed.

According to Deadline’s sources, the filmmakers behind James Bond 26 are seeking a “fresh face” to take on the role of 007—specifically, an unknown British male actor in his late 20s to early 30s. This approach would rule out long-rumored candidates such as Tom Holland, Taron Egerton, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

While lesser-known actor Scott Rose-Marsh was recently rumored to have screen-tested for the role under director Denis Villeneuve, Deadline’s source denies that casting has started. In fact, they say the process won’t begin until Villeneuve wraps up production on Dune: Part Three.

The report also notes that the next Bond could potentially be played by a non-white actor. However, the final decision will be based entirely on whether the actor fits both the character and the story being crafted by Villeneuve and screenwriter Steven Knight.

Importantly, Bond 26 will not continue the narrative from No Time to Die, which ended with Daniel Craig’s Bond dying. Instead, this is a full reboot: “a new Bond, a new start, a fresh everything,” according to the source.

The film is expected to begin shooting in 2027 with a planned release in 2028.

This marks the first James Bond film under Amazon MGM Studios, with new producers David Heyman and Amy Pascal taking over franchise leadership from longtime stewards Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
