Pocketpair has announced a new spin-off title in the Palworld universe, just days after Nintendo revealed its own farming game, Pokémon Pokopia.

The new project, titled Palfarm, shifts away from the monster-catching and survival mechanics of Palworld to embrace a slower-paced farming simulator.

Revealed on the official Palworld account on X, the spin-off features Pals living in a cosy village setting, with players able to farm, fish, chat with companions, and catch Pals in a lighter, more relaxed format.

The teaser introduces Cattiva, a familiar Pal who dreams of farm life and sets out to work towards paying off debt. While the tone is more relaxed than Palworld, elements from the original remain.

The Black Marketeer, an NPC known for selling rare goods in Palworld, returns in Palfarm. As before, dealing with his forbidden trade carries consequences.

Despite being announced during an ongoing lawsuit between Pocketpair and Nintendo, the developers appear to be expanding their franchise.

The legal dispute has not slowed development, and Pocketpair previously suggested that additional projects were underway.

According to the game’s Steam page, Palfarm will also support multiplayer, allowing friends to work together in building and running their farm.

While a release date has not been confirmed, the announcement has drawn attention given its timing so soon after Nintendo’s reveal of Pokopia.

Palworld, which launched in early access in January 2024, combined survival mechanics with monster-catching and quickly drew comparisons to Pokémon. With Palfarm, Pocketpair now appears to be diversifying its approach by targeting fans of cosy life-sim gameplay.
