Gabriel Iglesias and Lori Greiner have been cast in guest roles for the upcoming second season of Shifting Gears, Variety has learned exclusively. Both will appear as themselves in the ABC multi-camera comedy, which premieres on October 1 and will be available for streaming the following day on Hulu.
Iglesias, a well-known stand-up comedian and actor, has previously worked with Shifting Gears star Tim Allen on Disney+’s The Santa Clauses. The comedian, famous for his role in Mr. Iglesias on Netflix, also appeared in Cristela and has been featured in films like Magic Mike and Space Jam: A New Legacy. He is repped by CAA, Arsonhouse Entertainment, and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum.
Greiner, known for her role as a judge on Shark Tank, has also played herself on previous ABC shows, including Dr. Ken, Grace and Frankie, and Baskets. Aside from her television appearances, she is recognized for her successful entrepreneurship and product design, including her popular QVC show Clever & Unique Creations.
The second season of Shifting Gears also features a star-studded guest list, with Tim Allen’s former Home Improvement co-stars Patricia Richardson, Debbe Dunning, and Richard Karn making appearances. Additionally, Kat Dennings’ former Dollface co-star Lilly Singh and LA Dodgers’ Mookie Betts are set to appear. Allen’s co-star from Last Man Standing, Nancy Travis, will also return, along with Jenna Elfman.
Shifting Gears follows the story of Matt (Allen), a stubborn widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When his estranged daughter Riley (Dennings) and her children move in with him, the real "restoration" begins. The series is produced by 20th Television, with Allen serving as an executive producer alongside Michelle Nader, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and others. Dennings also serves as a producer for the show.
