Prince Harry is said to be seeking to rebuild ties with both the royal family and the UK government, with hopes of securing improved protection for his family during future visits to Britain.

This week, Harry begins a four-day solo trip to the UK — his longest stay since attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022. According to The Sunday Times, friends close to the Duke of Sussex say he’s eager to return to the UK more frequently, ideally with Meghan and their children.

“He’s not given up hope on bringing his family back to the UK,” one source said. “He wants to show his children where he grew up and help them connect with their roots.”

In May, Harry admitted he misses the UK, but said he couldn’t envision bringing his family due to unresolved security issues. “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” he told the BBC. “I miss the UK... and they’re going to miss everything too.”

Although he lost a legal battle with the Home Office over police protection, Harry reportedly hasn’t given up. According to The Times, he may now take a quieter approach, engaging in private lobbying to push for changes in how security is handled.

Rebuilding relationships with the royal family is another major hurdle. Harry hasn’t met with his father, King Charles, since a brief 30-minute visit in February following the monarch’s cancer diagnosis.

The King “misses his son,” according to his former butler, though Harry acknowledges that some relatives may never forgive him for past actions — particularly the publication of his memoir Spare.

Still, he says, “I would love a reconciliation with my family.”
