Eric Barone, best known as the creator of Stardew Valley, has been confirmed to have a voice role in Hollow Knight: Silksong. However, the identity of his character remains a mystery.
Barone, who is widely recognised under his development name Concerned Ape, appears in the credits of Silksong under the “additional voices” section, accessible through the extras menu.
This indicates that he contributed vocal work to one or more characters in the highly anticipated sequel from Team Cherry.
The exact character Barone voices has not been revealed. Neither the credits nor Team Cherry have provided further details.
Cole Medeiros, head of operations at Concerned Ape, confirmed to The Verge only that it is indeed Barone’s name listed. He added that Barone would “rather not say which character(s) so as not to spoil any surprises for anyone.”
Because Silksong’s insect inhabitants typically communicate through stylised sounds rather than spoken dialogue, it may be difficult for players to identify Barone’s role without official confirmation.
Dialogue in the game is instead delivered via on-screen text boxes, meaning vocal cues are intentionally ambiguous.
The secrecy surrounding Barone’s contribution has already sparked speculation among fans, with many wondering if his voice belongs to a character encountered later in the story.
Silksong launched to strong demand, briefly crashing multiple digital storefronts on release day, and has since received highly positive reviews from players.
With Barone’s hidden role now part of the conversation, fans are searching closely for clues as they continue their journey through Pharloom.
