Taylor Swift marked Brittany Mahomes’ 30th birthday by continuing a tradition that has followed her for years: balancing items on people’s heads.

In photos shared by Mahomes on Instagram, the Grammy-winning singer was seen placing a martini glass on the birthday celebrant’s head during a party in Nashville. Swift joined Mahomes’ group of friends for the celebration, which the mother of three described as “the best time.”

Mahomes, who turned 30 on August 31, celebrated with friends by exploring Nashville and enjoying what she called “Honky Tonkin in the day time.”

She also noted her appreciation for Divi Scalp and Hair, a brand she recently partnered with, crediting it for supporting her daily hair routine.

In her post, Mahomes joked about having “too many lychee martinis” over the weekend while thanking friends for making her birthday memorable.

The moment with Swift is the latest example of the pop star’s ongoing habit of placing objects on people’s heads in photographs.

The tradition stretches back to at least the late 2000s, with images circulating online of Swift balancing a coffee mug on a friend. In 2024, Glamour highlighted the custom after she posed at the Grammy Awards by holding her trophy over Boygenius members Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker.

While Swift has never explained the reasoning behind the tradition, it has become a light-hearted recurring feature in her public appearances.

The photos of Mahomes and Swift quickly drew attention from fans of both women, as the pair continue to appear together socially in support of their partners and ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs’ upcoming football season.
