After years of speculation and anticipation, Hollow Knight: Silksong is finally here. The long-awaited sequel launched on September 4—but instead of celebrating a smooth release, fans were met with a frustrating reality: digital storefronts simply couldn’t handle the demand.

With no option for pre-orders, thousands of eager players rushed to buy the game the moment it dropped. The result? Widespread platform outages.

Steam was among the first to go down, displaying error messages and preventing players from purchasing any game, not just Silksong. Xbox initially seemed to hold up, but many users reported either being unable to complete the purchase or seeing the game crash their system. PlayStation users faced similar issues, with the store page either failing to load or crashing outright.

Even Nintendo wasn't spared. Switch players flooded social media with reports of the Silksong store page refusing to load at all.

So, while Silksong may be the most anticipated release of the year, many fans are still stuck waiting—not for the game’s release, but for the chance to actually buy it.
