In a recent interview with The Times U.K., actress Robin Wright opened up about her decision to live and work in England, contrasting it with the fast-paced, high-pressure lifestyle of the United States.

“America is a sh**show,” Wright said candidly. “I love being in this country. There’s a freedom of self here. People are so kind. They’re living. They’re not in the car in traffic, panicked on a phone call, eating a sandwich. That’s most of America—everything’s rush, competition and speed.”

Wright, best known for Forrest Gump and House of Cards, has spent the last few years based in the U.K., where she’s noticed a slower, more grounded way of life. However, she also commented on one cultural aspect that continues to puzzle her: Britain’s deep-rooted class system.

“It’s very evident when you’re in a room and you feel the judgment or praise of someone who’s more elevated,” she said. “Why are you guys so obsessed with who went to this boarding school or this university? Who gives a sh**?”

Wright joins a growing list of celebrities seeking a life outside the U.S. In March, Rosie O’Donnell relocated to Ireland following Donald Trump’s return to office, saying she felt welcomed and grateful. Actor Mark Hamill also admitted he considered leaving the country but stayed after his wife reminded him not to let politics drive him out.

For Wright, the move appears to be about reclaiming peace and presence—something she feels is increasingly hard to find in the U.S.
