Former Rockstar Games developer Obbe Vermeij has reassured Grand Theft Auto fans that there’s no reason to panic over another GTA 6 delay — at least not yet.

Gamers have been waiting over a decade for the next chapter in the GTA series, and anticipation hit new heights when Rockstar announced that GTA 6 would arrive in late 2025. However, in May 2025, the studio pushed the release back to May 26, 2026, stating that the extra time was needed “to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”

Naturally, the delay disappointed fans, and speculation about a possible second push began almost immediately. Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company, has since reassured players that the team remains on track for the new date.

Now, Obbe Vermeij — Rockstar’s former technical director, who worked on earlier GTA titles before leaving after GTA IV — has weighed in. According to him, there’s no real reason to worry just yet.

“Rockstar had a free choice and picked May 26. They’re confident,” Vermeij said in response to fans questioning the likelihood of another delay. “They’ll make the final call about five months out. Any ‘GTA 6 delayed’ rumor before December is just clout-chasing.”

That timeline aligns with fan expectations, as many are already looking to December for big updates — possibly including a third trailer or official pre-order announcements.

In the meantime, eager fans continue analyzing every frame of the released trailers and screenshots, searching for hidden details. Some have even been tracking the sale of a vehicle rumored to have been used in the game's development.

For now, the message is clear: don’t hit the panic button until December.
