SEGA has officially revealed Project ONSOKU, a collaboration between Sonic the Hedgehog and virtual pop star Hatsune Miku, tied to the upcoming Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. The project introduces original music, exclusive in-game content, and the addition of Hatsune Miku as a free DLC racer.

Project ONSOKU will deliver five original songs and music videos, each created by different artists and released weekly. These tracks will also feature as background music within Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, giving players a chance to race while experiencing a fresh soundtrack.

The first release, “SAI LOVE JINSEI RUNNER” by Kairiki bear, is now available alongside an official music video illustrated by Nou. According to Kairiki bear, the song reflects the high-speed rush of Sonic’s early adventures.

Additional songs will follow from cosMo@Bousou-P, Yunosuke, Ponchi♪, and Camellia, with new tracks arriving throughout September.

Hatsune Miku will also appear as a playable racer in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Players can control her futuristic vehicle, the Diva Macchina, while racing to the music of Project ONSOKU. Miku, first developed by Crypton Future Media as a voice synthesiser, has since grown into an international cultural figure known for live performances, Vocaloid music, and collaborations across games and media.

Ahead of launch, SEGA will host a free Open Network Test for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds from August 29 to September 2 (GMT+8), allowing players on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games to test online crossplay and racing mechanics.

The Joker Festival event will run from August 31 to September 1 (GMT+8), featuring Persona 5 Royal’s Joker as a crossover racer with his Arsène Wing machine.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launches worldwide on September 25 2025, with Project ONSOKU providing weekly music updates leading into release.
