Taylor Swift fans are celebrating not only the pop star’s engagement to NFL player Travis Kelce, but also a resurfaced interview clip where a young Swift predicted she wouldn’t get married until age 35 — the exact age she is now.

The Grammy-winning singer, now 35, and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Kelce, also 35, announced their engagement on August 26, 2025, via a joint Instagram post. The announcement featured several photos, including one of Swift showing off a striking “Old Mine brilliant cut” diamond ring, designed by Kelce in collaboration with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.

Following the news, fans unearthed an old interview in which a teenage Swift appeared on a television talk show. In the clip, the host jokingly suggests that Swift won’t be allowed to marry until she turns 35, a sentiment the young star happily agrees with. “No, it’s gonna be late. Late in life,” she says, smiling, while her mother, Andrea Swift, is mentioned as watching from off-camera. “My music is where I’m always gonna be personal. I don’t hold anything back in that category,” Swift adds during the segment.

The resurfaced moment has gone viral, with many fans seeing it as a manifestation come true. Swift and Kelce publicly confirmed their relationship in October 2023, after attending a Saturday Night Live afterparty together. Speculation about their romance began a month earlier when Swift was spotted at one of Kelce’s games in Kansas City.

The couple's engagement may have been publicized on August 26, but Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, revealed in an interview with News 5’s John Kosich that the proposal actually took place about two weeks earlier in a garden at Travis' home. He described the moment as “beautiful.”

From a teenage prediction to a headline-making engagement, Swift appears to be living the timeline she once envisioned.
