'Avatar The Last Airbender' film leak suspect arrested in Singapore, faces up to 7 years in prison
Man arrested in Singapore over 'The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender' leak could face up to seven years in prison
A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Singapore after allegedly leaking footage from the upcoming animated film The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, according to local authorities.
Singapore police confirmed they received a report on April 16 that extracts from an unreleased animated film were circulating on social media platforms.
The film is part of the Avatar franchise and is scheduled for release on Paramount+ in October 2026.
Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Department identified the suspect within a day and carried out an arrest.
Authorities allege that the individual gained unauthorised remote access to a media-content server, downloaded the film, and later distributed clips online.
Police stated that multiple electronic devices were seized during the operation, and a copy of the film was recovered.
The suspect is currently being investigated for unauthorised access to computer material. If convicted, he could face up to seven years in prison, a fine of up to S$50,000, or both.
“The police take a serious view against any unauthorised access to computer systems,” Singapore police said, adding that those involved in such activities would be dealt with firmly under the law.
The leak was first reported on April 12, when footage from the film began circulating online.
Clips were shared across platforms, including 4Chan and X, with initial claims suggesting the content had been accidentally distributed before further reports indicated a deliberate leak.
The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the leak.
