Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement has sparked discussions among legal experts about the importance of a prenuptial agreement.

With Swift’s reported $1.6 billion fortune compared to Kelce’s $90 million, lawyers say the pop star “has more to protect.”

Kara Chrobak, founding partner of Bespoke Law, explains to Page Six, “A prenup makes total sense for them. Taylor is reportedly worth around $1.6 billion, and Travis has about $90 million. That’s a huge difference. Having a prenup lets them both go into the marriage knowing their separate assets are protected and avoids messy, expensive litigation if things don’t work out.”

Attorney Morgan Mazor adds, “A prenup protects what they’ve already built. A prenup can spell out exactly what’s ‘yours, mine, and ours,’ without any fumbles later.”

Experts note Swift is likely to safeguard her touring revenue, brand deals, music catalogue, streaming contracts, and extensive property portfolio, while Kelce may prioritise his NFL contracts, endorsements, and podcast ventures.

Both are advised to include terms over name, image, and likeness rights, confidentiality, and restrictions on memoirs or publicity in case of separation.

Chrobak says, “Both of them are brands as much as people, so the prenup should make sure neither can exploit the other’s image or name if things fall apart.”

Lawyer Holly Davis warns that without a prenup, even previously held assets could be contested. Attorney Kirk Stange highlights that Kelce’s career may soon end, while Swift’s music empire continues to grow.
