Taylor Lautner has responded with warmth and positivity following the engagement announcement of his former girlfriend, Taylor Swift, to NFL star Travis Kelce.
Lautner, 33, who briefly dated Swift in 2009 after they met on the set of Valentine’s Day, shared a supportive repost on Instagram just hours after the news broke on August 26.

The actor reshared a carousel originally posted by the NFL, featuring images of the newly engaged couple. One photo showed Swift and Kelce embracing in a garden, while another captured their joyful interaction after the Kansas City Chiefs’ AFC Championship victory earlier this year. The NFL captioned the post with a simple “Same,” echoing fans’ excitement.
Although their romance ended more than a decade ago, Lautner and Swift have since rekindled their friendship. During a 2023 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Lautner reflected on their bond, stating, “When you respect somebody for who they are, like in their soul, it allows you to move on, forgive and continue that love in a different way.”
The two have even collaborated recently. Lautner appeared in Swift’s music video for “I Can See You,” which premiered during her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City. Introducing him onstage, Swift praised Lautner’s support during the Speak Now era and noted the close friendship she shares with both Lautner and his wife, Taylor Dome.
Lautner, now married since 2022, has embraced his reputation as Swift’s most amicable ex. “I’m the only ex without a diss track,” he joked to PEOPLE in 2023, calling the title “best ex” a compliment.
Meanwhile, Kelce’s father confirmed the proposal took place at the NFL player’s home roughly two weeks prior, describing it as a “beautiful” moment.
