For the first time in over two decades, the full cast of Dawson’s Creek is coming together for a special cause. The beloved teen drama’s stars, James Van Der Beek, Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, Mary Beth Peil, John Wesley Shipp, Mary-Margaret Humes, Nina Repeta, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe and Busy Philipps, will reunite on September 22 at New York City’s Richard Rodgers Theater for a live reading of the show’s 1998 pilot episode.
The reunion carries particular weight as it will benefit F Cancer, with proceeds directed toward raising awareness and supporting those affected by the disease. Van Der Beek revealed last November that he had been diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer, making the event both a heartfelt show of solidarity and a public platform to encourage early screening.
Directed by Jason Moore, who helmed several episodes of the original series, the evening is being produced by Carl Ogawa, Moore, Michelle Williams, Thomas Kail, Maggie Brohn, series creator Kevin Williamson and Greg Berlanti. While Williams, Jackson, Holmes and Van Der Beek return to their original roles, cast members who joined in later seasons, including Smith, Monroe and Philipps, will take on various characters from the pilot script.
Kevin Williamson reflected on the show’s enduring legacy, noting how a small story about adolescence blossomed into a global phenomenon with a devoted fan base. Williams added that the cast’s decision to gather around Van Der Beek reflects the bond forged in Capeside, a connection that continues well beyond the series’ 1998–2003 run.
F Cancer CEO Dr. Heather Kun emphasized the importance of screenings, highlighting how early detection can dramatically improve outcomes. Sponsored by Guardant Health and Hard Rock Hotel New York, the reunion is as much about nostalgia as it is about saving lives. For fans, it’s a chance to revisit Capeside while supporting a deeply personal fight.
