Taylor Swift has announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, will be released on October 3. The singer unveiled the cover art and full tracklist, which features Sabrina Carpenter on the title song, during the Wednesday episode of the New Heights Show podcast hosted by her partner, Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce, and his brother Jason. The news was also shared across her social media channels.
Swift’s official website now offers multiple editions of the album, including a glitter-orange vinyl variant titled The Life of a Showgirl: Sweat and Vanilla Perfume, along with deluxe CD and cassette formats. While the podcast was airing, deluxe album covers were also revealed online. Following this, Swift confirmed on Instagram that she produced the record alongside Max Martin and Shellback, writing, “And, baby, that’s show business for you. New album The Life of a Showgirl. Out October 3.”
On the podcast, Swift explained that the project was inspired by the joy of performing on the Eras Tour, describing it as “exuberant, electric, and vibrant.” She emphasized that the album consists of 12 carefully selected songs, noting there would be no additional tracks for this era. “Every single song is on this album for hundreds of reasons,” she said. “You couldn’t take one out and it be the same album… it’s just right.”
Leading up to the reveal, fans spotted a countdown clock on Swift’s website set to end at 7 p.m. ET. The landing page featured a door image from the Eras Tour, and as the timer ran down, four color-coded locked boxes appeared — sparking speculation that each represented a different vinyl edition. This was followed by Spotify billboards in major cities promoting a playlist titled “And, baby, that’s show business for you,” containing 22 Swift tracks produced by Martin and Shellback, hinting at their creative role in the new album.
Swift announced The Life of a Showgirl a day earlier, after fans correctly guessed the significance of the countdown ending on the 12th day of the month at 12:12 a.m. ET. The reveal came in a teaser clip from her New Heights Show appearance, posted online ahead of the episode.
Her last release, The Tortured Poets Department, dropped in April 2024 and was quickly expanded into a double album, The Anthology, which became the year’s best-selling album.
