Speculation about a potential on-screen meeting between David Corenswet’s Superman and Robert Pattinson’s Batman has grown after the Superman star made remarks that fans believe hint at a crossover within the DC Universe.

Theories have circulated since DC Studios co-chief James Gunn unveiled the “Gods and Monsters” slate, which included The Brave and the Bold — a film set to introduce the DCU’s version of Batman alongside the Bat-family.

While Gunn has stated the project remains in development and that he is “very involved”, reports from The Hollywood Reporter have raised questions about its progress.

Delays to The Batman Part 2 have added to speculation that Pattinson’s portrayal could be folded into the DCU.

Fans’ interest was reignited when Corenswet was seen in a behind-the-scenes video saying: “One, two, three… Batman! Listen man, I’m just trying to end up in that movie, I really want to be in that movie.” It remains unclear whether he was referring to The Brave and the Bold or The Batman Part 2.

On social media, fans have expressed excitement at the idea of Pattinson and Corenswet sharing the screen. One user posted: “BATTINSON ARMY HOLD THE LINE WE ALMOST HAVE IT.” Another commented: “One two three, Batman! Okay I’m delusional.”

Speaking to ET in July, Gunn addressed the possibility of such a crossover: “I’ve said it before. We’ve talked about it before, but it’s not what’s happening right now.”

Despite Gunn’s statement, speculation continues among fans eager to see the two actors’ interpretations of the iconic superheroes appear together in a future film.
