Inquiry committee set up for suspended EDO

KARACHI: After suspending EDO Municipal Services Group of Offices Muhammad Masood Alam, DCO Karachi Muhammad Hussein Syed has said that an inquiry committee will look into the misappropriation of funds and it will be led by EDO finance and planning.

The funds were supposed to be used to buy machinery and other assets for the municipal services department, including the fire brigade. The city district government Karachi (CDGK) has confirmed that they have prepared a charge sheet with preliminary charges of corruption against Alam.

The charge sheet, they added, would be sent to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for a detailed investigation. Sources claim that the details are being gathered to ensure that the charge sheet is strong as there are financial irregularities worth Rs700 million.

The city government has issued orders through which the municipal services DO has been posted in the works and services department.

The DCO told The Express Tribune that the municipal services department was given a large sum of money for fuel and machinery.
