Fans of the Netflix dating series Better Late Than Single have voiced concern about online hostility towards cast members following the season finale. Despite wrap-up satisfaction with the show’s conclusion, many viewers have criticised the intense scrutiny and backlash directed at individuals, especially following the final decision between Yi Do, Ha Jeong‑mok and Park Ji‑yeon.

The show, featuring first-time daters undergoing makeovers, challenges and connection-building at a resort, concluded with Jeong‑mok choosing Ji‑yeon over Do—a development that left Do visibly upset.

Some believe editing amplified her emotional state, with one viewer remarking scenes depicting Do sitting tearfully on a rooftop swing felt excessively staged.

Online, several viewers called out the disproportionate criticism faced by the cast. One post on X urged empathy: “It’s fair for someone to want a partner who matches lifestyle or values... but let’s not bully him.”

On Reddit, another fan shared frustration, writing: “I’m genuinely shocked at the HATE Jeong‑mok and Ji‑yeon are getting! These people have never dated—this was their first experience.”

Many fans appealed for more compassionate discourse and requested future seasons present a broader perspective.

Among anticipations for Season 2 are expectations for longer interaction periods so introverted cast members can open up, as well as more guidance from mentors and personality-led activities. Requests for increased screen time for quieter participants like Seung‑chan and Mi‑ji also featured prominently.

Some expressed wishes for reunion or BTS episodes to better understand interpersonal dynamics. One fan stated they’d loved to see more moments between Jae‑yun and Min‑hong, praising her kindness and his growing confidence.

As Netflix considers renewal, the passionate viewer response highlights that while the show resonated with many, audiences hope for greater sensitivity in both production and online reactions in future seasons.
