Coldplay’s Chris Martin has apologised to fans after forgetting the lyrics during a live performance of “A Sky Full of Stars” in Toronto as part of the band’s “Music of the Spheres World Tour.” The incident occurred when Martin missed his cue to start singing, leading the band to stop playing mid-song.

“I f----- up, I f----- up. I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry,” Martin told the audience, according to a TikTok video shared by a fan.

He added, “I forgot to come in on the right line. Now, normally, I do stop this song as a joke but I did genuinely just make a big mistake, so please forgive me ... I’m so sorry. That was an actual f--- up. S---. Oh, balls.”

Martin briefly spoke with his bandmates on stage before returning to the microphone, saying, “This is the benefit of being in a band with your brothers for 30 years.”

He further addressed the audience, stating, “Listen, I’m so sorry, I forgot the words. I forgot what to say. It happens sometimes when you’re my age. I’m nearly 80 years old,” before requesting, “Don’t put that on YouTube, if you please.”

Despite Martin’s request, the clip circulated online, with many fans expressing understanding of the error, calling the concert “magical” and noting that “mistakes happen.”

Coldplay’s tour, which began in March 2022, will continue with sold-out shows before concluding with final performances in Hull and London.
