Jay-Z is once again responding to a long-standing paternity claim, this time in the form of a new federal lawsuit filed by 30-year-old Rymir Satterthwaite, who alleges the rapper is his biological father.
Filed in May 2025, the complaint revives claims that Jay-Z, now 55, fathered Satterthwaite in the early 1990s after an alleged relationship with Wanda Satterthwaite, Rymir’s late mother. The lawsuit accuses Jay-Z of repeatedly evading paternity tests over the years and using his influence to suppress the case across multiple legal jurisdictions.
Satterthwaite, who is not seeking financial child support, claims he has endured emotional distress, anxiety, public ridicule, and health issues stemming from years of legal battles. He alleges that Jay-Z’s legal team has intimidated his family and obstructed his efforts to obtain a definitive answer regarding his paternity.
In a statement issued through his attorneys, Jay-Z dismissed the lawsuit as baseless, calling it “fabricated” and part of a “decades-long harassment campaign.” His legal team added that similar claims have already been thrown out by several courts and that Satterthwaite has even faced a contempt order for continuing the pursuit.
Jay-Z’s team is now requesting additional time to respond to the latest suit, arguing that the rapper only became aware of it in June. Online, the case has reignited public debate, with many calling for Jay-Z to simply take a DNA test. Some speculate that the reluctance may be tied to more serious implications if the mother was underage at the time.
As social media continues to weigh in, Jay-Z has made no personal public statement beyond the legal filing.
