It’s been more than a decade since The Office ended, but the bond between its beloved cast remains stronger than ever, especially in their group chat. Angela Kinsey, who played the uptight Angela Martin on the hit NBC sitcom, recently opened up about their ongoing digital friendship in an interview with PEOPLE.
The cast’s group chat, affectionately named ‘Office Peeps,’ is far from your average celebrity thread. “Interestingly enough, I feel like Rainn [Wilson] checks in the most, which is very sweet,” Kinsey shared. “And I don’t think anyone’s annoying, but the most random will be Creed [Bratton], and I think that’s very on brand.”
Kinsey recalled one of Creed’s more memorable contributions, a bizarre Christmas song featuring a floppy Santa hat. “You never know what you’re going to get,” she laughed.
She also shared that her children have recently started watching the series for the first time. Their reaction? Less than favourable for her character. “They thought I was too mean to Phyllis,” she admitted with a smile.
Reflecting on her favourite filming moments, Kinsey pointed to the scenes shot in the show’s famously cramped conference room. “We’re all in there for hours and hours,” she said. “That’s when everyone starts oversharing, doing silly bits, and cracking up. It felt like camping; you get a little loopy.”
Fans of The Office have even more to look forward to this fall, as a spin-off series titled The Paper is set to debut in September on Peacock. Though Kinsey won’t be reprising her role, the project is helmed by original creator Greg Daniels and promises a fresh story set at a newspaper.
