An alleged criminal was injured and arrested following an exchange of fire between some suspects and a police team on Attock-Fateh Jang Road on Saturday.
The firing happened between officials of the Rawalpindi Crime Control Department (CCD) and suspected motorcyclists. After the encounter, two others managed to escape.
The CCD team signaled three individuals on a motorcycle to stop during a snap-checking operation. Instead of complying, the suspects opened fire on the police, prompting a retaliatory response.
During the encounter, one suspect, identified as Sami Arshad, was injured and apprehended, while his two accomplices escaped on foot. The injured suspect was shifted to a hospital for necessary treatment.
The motorcycle used by the suspects was seized. Authorities stated that Sami is a known offender with a criminal record involving motorcycle theft cases.
Following the incident, senior police officers arrived at the scene, and a search operation was launched to apprehend the runway fugitives.
The CCD SP commended the team for their bravery despite coming under fire, stating that those who attack citizens or law enforcement will not escape the law
