Far from rhetoric and war of words, the Foreign Office on Friday said Pakistan was engaging with India in "good faith" and "positivity" not only to maintain ceasefire but also return to the long-term stability.
"We are engaging in the whole process in good faith. We approach this with positivity and are committed to make this ceasefire continue to hold, de-escalation to succeed and then engagement to lead to stability and resolution of issues," Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan told his weekly news briefing.
However, he added that at a time of heightened tensions in the region, it was highly imprudent to indulge in rhetoric, which was inflammatory and provocative.
Despite the fragile ceasefire, the Indian leadership continued to issue provocative statements against Pakistan. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday once again accused Pakistan of supporting terrorism and threatened to target Pakistan as well as its economy.
"We have cautioned India on repeated occasions to desist from this. But if this rhetoric is a prelude to any threat in the region, our armed forces are ready to deal with any eventuality," the spokesperson said.
Earlier, Pakistan categorically rejected the baseless, provocative, and irresponsible allegations made by the Indian prime minister during a recent public address in Rajasthan.
"The remarks, replete with distortions, misrepresentations, and inflammatory rhetoric, are clearly aimed at stoking regional tensions for narrow political gains, according to the Foreign Office.
"Such statements not only reflect a deliberate attempt to mislead the public but also violate the norms of responsible statecraft. Resorting to threats and boasting about military action against a sovereign nation is a grave breach of the United Nations Charter and established principles of international law. This dangerous approach undermines regional peace and stability."
