RAWALPINDI:

An officer of the Airports Security Force (ASF) has been dismissed following the completion of an inquiry into an incident of misconduct involving a passenger at the New Islamabad International Airport.

The incident occurred three days ago during the arrival and departure of several international flights.

A dispute broke out at the entry gate of the international departure lounge when an ASF official confronted a passenger attempting to access the lounge through the staff gate with his family, including children.

According to multiple video clips that surfaced after the altercation, an ASF officer can be seen and heard pointing at his colleague while addressing the passenger, saying: "If he slaps you, I won't spare him." The footage also shows two visibly distressed children standing nearby, while another child with a backpack walks toward the father.

Bystanders are seen and heard trying to calm the situation, including attempts to reason with the passenger wearing a blue T-shirt.

In another video, an officer identified as Zia is seen approaching the passenger at the staff gate.

During the exchange, a voice is heard calling the passenger a "beastly human."

AirThe officer appears to be lunging at the passenger, prompting the man to respond: "Keep your hands to yourself." He is also heard telling someone nearby, "He slapped me."

The ASF officer can then be heard saying: "I will hand you over for interfering in official duties." The passenger is later heard saying: "Fine, we were returning—why did you slap me?"

Another ASF officer can be seen attempting to restrain Zia and escort him back inside the gate.

Sources confirmed that senior officials intervened to de-escalate the situation, and the passenger was eventually allowed to proceed with his travel plans.

After the videos went viral on social media and news platforms, ASF Headquarters took notice and initiated an inquiry from Karachi.

The team reviewed CCTV footage from the airport and recorded statements from all duty personnel, including those directly involved.

Following the investigation, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Zia was found guilty of misconduct. He was dismissed from service after a summary trial.

Attempts to contact the ASF spokesperson for official comments went unanswered, and messages were not returned.

However, a senior ASF officer, speaking to The Express Tribune on condition of anonymity, confirmed the dismissal of the officer involved in the incident.
