Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew, the first chronological instalment in C.S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia series, continues to attract industry attention as new casting developments surface. According to reports, actresses Margaret Qualley and Emma Mackey are among those being considered for the role of Jadis, the White Witch.

This information follows reports that Charli XCX is no longer in the running for the part. While Netflix has not confirmed any official cast members, these updates add to the anticipation around the Greta Gerwig-directed film, which is set to be released in late 2026.

Qualley, known for her performances in Maid, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and The Substance, would be returning to Netflix for a fourth project if selected. Mackey rose to fame through her breakout role in Sex Education and previously collaborated with Gerwig on Barbie.

The character of Jadis is central to The Magician’s Nephew, where she is introduced as a powerful sorceress from a crumbling world. Previously portrayed by Tilda Swinton in Disney’s adaptations, the White Witch remains one of the franchise’s most recognisable antagonists.

Recent casting calls also indicate that production is gearing up, with Netflix seeking young British talent for three lead roles, aged between nine and twelve, ahead of a June production start date. These roles include two boys and one girl, each specified as leads with an authentic British accent required.

This casting update follows earlier reports that Daniel Craig was in talks for the role of Uncle Andrew Ketterley and that Meryl Streep might be considered for Aslan, although these remain unconfirmed.

Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew is being produced by Amy Pascal, Mark Gordon, and Vincent Sieber, with casting overseen by Francine Maisler and Nina Gold.

The film is slated for a Christmas 2026 release on Netflix, following an exclusive IMAX debut.
