LAHORE:

The PTI has moved Lahore High Court (LHC) for seeking a permission to hold a public rally at the historic Minar-e-Pakistan on April 22.

The petition was submitted by PTI Punjab Vice President Akmal Khan Bari. According to the petitioner, the party had initially applied for a rally permit on March 22, but the relevant committee denied the request without granting PTI an opportunity to present its stance.

Bari further argued that PTI was unaware of the committee's decision and, due to delays by the DC's office, the party was unable to hold the rally on March 22 as planned. The petition now urges the court to issue an order allowing the event to proceed on April 22. The petitioner made Lahore Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza and other relevant authorities as respondents.

Earlier, PTI had formally requested permission to hold a March 22 rally on the eve of Pakistan Day, but the Lahore DC rejected the application, citing serious security threats and concerns over law and order. The decision was based on recommendations from the District Intelligence Committee (DIC), which deemed the rally infeasible due to heightened security threats. The committee highlighted that March 22 coincided with the death anniversary of Hazrat Ali (R.A), an event requiring extensive security measures.
