Latonja Coleman, Zendaya’s half-sister, has opened up about their estranged relationship and fears she’ll be excluded from the actor’s upcoming wedding to fiancé Tom Holland.

In interviews with The U.S. Sun and San Francisco Chronicle, Coleman, 51, shared that she has only seen Zendaya twice in the past seven years — first at Thanksgiving in 2018, and most recently at their grandmother’s funeral in January 2025. She believes a long-standing family rift is to blame.

Coleman, who lives in Roseville, California, said she attempted to contact Zendaya after being diagnosed with cancer, but claims her efforts were blocked by family members. “I went through chemotherapy by myself,” she said. “I just want to know why Zendaya wasn’t there for me.” Though she suspects Zendaya wasn’t initially told about her illness, she believes the actress eventually found out.

In addition to feeling unsupported during her illness, Coleman said she’s long felt sidelined within the family. As the daughter of Kazembe Ajamu Coleman and his high school sweetheart Michelle Mackintosh, she believes her father favored the five children he had later with his second wife. “It feels like I’m the black sheep of the family. They’ve pushed me out,” she said.

Despite the emotional distance, Coleman emphasized that her intentions are not material. “I don’t want her money. I just want to be in her life, to show her that I love her and support her.”

Latonja also spoke positively about Tom Holland, whom she met in 2018. She described him as “down to earth” and said the family likes him. “I think he’s the one for her,” she added

The couple reportedly became engaged between December 2024 and New Year’s Eve, with Zendaya debuting her ring at the 2025 Golden Globes. Despite the silence from Zendaya’s camp, Latonja says her hope for reconciliation remains unchanged.
