ABBOTTABAD:

Galiyat, including popular hill stations like Thandiyani, Ayubia, and Nathiagali, experienced its second spell of snowfall on Tuesday.

The snow began early in the morning and continued intermittently throughout the day, blanketing the region in a picturesque layer of white. The snowfall was particularly heavy in Galiyat and Thandiyani, where up to six inches of snow was recorded, creating a winter wonderland for both locals and tourists.

Despite the heavy snow, all major link roads in the area remained open. The Abbottabad-Murree Road was promptly cleared to ensure smooth traffic flow, with additional support provided by Rescue 1122 and local Galiyat police. These efforts aimed to accommodate the increasing number of tourists flocking to the area to enjoy the scenic beauty of the snow-covered hills.

Local police have reported that a large number of visitors are enjoying the winter weather, taking full advantage of the snowfall. However, traffic police have issued a safety advisory urging tourists to avoid travelling in the region after sunset due to the potential risks posed by slippery roads and reduced visibility. They have also recommended the use of tyre chains to ensure safer driving in snowy conditions, reminding travellers to take extra precautions during their journey.
