
Lynne Marie Stewart, best known for her role as Miss Yvonne on Pee-wee’s Playhouse and Charlie’s mom in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, has died at 78.
A beloved comedic actress, Stewart was a longtime member of the Groundlings, the Los Angeles improv troupe where she met Paul Reubens. She starred alongside Reubens in Pee-wee’s Playhouse (1986-1990), earning the title “Most Beautiful Woman in Puppetland.”
Her acting career spanned decades, including roles in MASH*, The Golden Girls, Night Court, and Raising Hope. She appeared in films such as American Graffiti (1973), The Running Man (1987), and Bridesmaids (2011).
Stewart gained a new generation of fans as Bonnie Kelly, Charlie’s eccentric mom, in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. She debuted in season one (2005) and made her final appearance in 2023.
Friends and colleagues, including Elvira star Cassandra Peterson and SNL alum Laraine Newman, mourned her passing, calling her “kind, funny, and an icon.”
Her impact on comedy and television remains unforgettable, from her Pee-wee days to her final onscreen moments.
