The Anti-Terrorism Court in Noushehro Feroze district on Tuesday remanded Grand Democratic Alliance's leader Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi to jail custody for three days.
Shackled in chains, the former federal minister was produced before the ATC judge who was requested to grant his physical remand.
The cops from Dokri and Badeh police stations apprised the court about separate FIRs nominating Jatoi. Hundreds of cops were deployed inside and outside the court's premises as thousands of supporters of GDA's elderly leader gathered to express their support and solidarity with him.
The crowd chanted slogans blaming Pakistan Peoples Party, its Sindh government and the police for political victimisation of Jatoi.
"We will no longer keep quiet," warned Jatoi's wife in a statement. "If I have to stage a sit-in I will do it if Murtaza Khan isn't released in a day." She said their family has been tolerating the PPP government's highhandedness for long. "But now it is enough."
