Sources said that the government had announced the dismissal of daily wage employees of USC a couple of days ago. Consequently, Junaid Qureshi, a daily wage employee of USC in Abbottabad, was dismissed from his job by the department.
The victim's friend said that Junaid had been working at the utility stores for the last 13 years. The victim's father, Gul Hassan Qureshi, was also associated with USC and had also been the central joint secretary of workers' union.
After being dejected, Junaid shot himself to death. Police said that Junaid's body was initially shifted to Ayub Teaching Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to the relatives. The funeral prayer of the deceased was offered in Jhangi.
The Workers Union lodged a protest at the warehouse and raised slogans against the government. The employees said that if the government couldn't create employment opportunities, then it should not decide to dismiss the employees from their jobs.
