FIA told to return seized jewellery

ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday directed that jewellery allegedly misused by a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officer be returned to a woman within one month. Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard a petition filed by a citizen, Shehnaz Ashraf.

The petitioner's counsel and FIA officials appeared before the court. During the hearing, the court inquired about the status of the case. FIA officials informed the bench that the inquiry had been completed and approval from the Director General was awaited.

Justice Tahir questioned that if the inquiry had been finalised, what justification remained for retaining the items.
