The charred remains of Mustafa Amir, a young man who went missing from Karachi’s Defence area on January 6, were discovered near Hub Chowki, authorities reported on Friday. Mustafa’s body was found in the trunk of his own car, which had also been set ablaze.

DIG CIA, Muqaddas Haider, along with officials from the Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), addressed the media and confirmed significant progress in the investigation.

"Mustafa Amir, aged 23, was abducted on January 6, following which his mother received a ransom call," said DIG Haider, adding that the case was subsequently transferred to the CIA. He credited the CPLC for their substantial cooperation in the case.

Haider revealed that on February 8, Mustafa's friend Armaghan was apprehended after a shootout in which two police officers, including DSP, were injured. During the arrest, investigators found Mustafa’s phone and blood stains on a carpet at Armaghan’s home.

"Sensitive agencies have also been assisting in the investigation," Haider added.

According to the investigation, Armaghan and another suspect, Shiraz, who were close friends since childhood, allegedly killed Mustafa after a domestic dispute. They then disposed of the body by placing it in Mustafa’s car, setting it on fire, and abandoning it near Hub Chowki.

Authorities are continuing to investigate if anyone else was involved in the crime.

DNA tests are being conducted to confirm the identity of the remains, with initial reports indicating that the body found was indeed Mustafa’s.

DIG Haider clarified that there was no confirmed link to international drug cartels, despite rumors suggesting Mustafa’s involvement in illegal activities. "The claim of Mustafa’s connection to a drug cartel remains unverified," Haider stated.

Police officials had initially confirmed that Mustafa had gone missing from his residence in Defense, and after his father, Amir Shuja, had contacted Mustafa’s friend Armaghan on January 10, suspicion grew.

On the same day, a ransom call was received from an international number, prompting the family to hand over evidence to the police. However, there was no immediate action from the authorities.

In the wake of the discovery, Mustafa’s father had also appealed to Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori for assistance in locating his son. Following the intervention, police traced Mustafa’s charred car and body in Hub Chowki.

The investigation continues as authorities seek to identify all those involved in this tragic incident.
