Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with US Chargé d'Affaires Natalie Baker to discuss key issues, including counter-terrorism and bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on enhancing collaboration between Pakistan and the United States, particularly in areas of mutual interest.

Naqvi also reflected on his recent visit to the US, where he held positive discussions with members of the US Congress. He emphasised that these meetings focused on developing a joint strategy against terrorism and strengthening bilateral relations.

“Terrorism is a global challenge, and the international community must work together to combat it,” Naqvi said.

He highlighted the decades-long ties between Pakistan and the US, noting that American support has played a vital role in boosting the capacity of Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies.

Naqvi expressed hope that Pakistan-US relations would be further strengthened during President Donald Trump’s tenure.

The interior minister also invited Baker to attend Islamabad’s upcoming spring festival celebrations.

Last month, Naqvi made an official visit to the US and participated in the prestigious Lincoln Liberty Ball dinner in Washington, receiving a warm welcome from American officials and dignitaries.

During the event, Naqvi met with prominent figures, including Senator Tommy Tuberville, Congressman Ken Calvert, former British Prime Minister Liz Truss, and Mississippi Governor Philip Bryant. Discussions focused on mutual interests and avenues to strengthen bilateral relations.

The minister also extended congratulations to US senators and congress members on Donald Trump’s assumption of the presidency. “This is a historic day for America,” Naqvi remarked, expressing confidence in the Trump administration’s potential to open a new chapter in US-Pakistan relations.

Naqvi noted the enthusiasm of the American public during the celebrations, calling it a testament to their support for President Trump.

He expressed his best wishes for the American people and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering collaboration.
