Pushpa 2, the sequel to the 2021 hit Pushpa: The Rise, will soon be available for streaming on Netflix. However, the Hindi-dubbed version will face a delay.
Netflix officially confirmed the film's digital release in its original Telugu version, as well as Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam dubs.
Despite this, the Hindi version has not yet been given a specific release date. While reports indicate that it may be available by mid-February, Netflix has yet to provide an official timeline for the Hindi release.
In addition to the delay, Netflix will offer an extended version of Pushpa 2 that includes 23 minutes of additional footage. The reloaded theatrical version of the film, released on January 17, 2025, had a runtime of 220 minutes, adding 20 minutes of new content to the original version.
The OTT release will extend the film’s runtime to 223 minutes, incorporating 3 minutes of exclusive material. This extended version will only be available on Netflix, offering viewers more content than in theatres.
The film’s theatrical release on December 5, 2024, marked a significant success, especially for the Hindi-dubbed version, which performed well at the box office. The Hindi version of Pushpa is among the highest-grossing films in Indian cinema.
Directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Pushpa 2 continues the story from the first film, with Allu Arjun reprising his role as the lead character, Pushpa Raj. The film's music was composed by Devi Sri Prasad, with additional scoring by Sam CS.
Netflix’s confirmation of the OTT release of Pushpa 2 has generated anticipation among viewers, particularly those who missed the film in theatres or those who want to experience the extended version
. Despite the delay of the Hindi version, the film’s availability in other languages will allow many fans to watch the sequel online. The added footage in the OTT release could further heighten interest among viewers, offering new material for those already familiar with the film from its theatrical run.
The delay in the Hindi release may be disappointing for some, but the added content could incentivise fans to wait for the streaming premiere. Once the Hindi version becomes available, it is expected to draw significant viewership, in line with the film's box office performance.
