Music legend Patti Smith experienced a health scare during a performance in São Paulo, Brazil, on Sunday.
The 78-year-old collapsed on stage about 30 minutes into her set at the Cultura Artística Theater with the Berlin-based Soundwalk Collective. According to local news, the incident occurred while Smith was reading a statement about climate change.
After being taken backstage, she returned in a wheelchair to apologize to the audience, explaining, "Unfortunately, I got sick, and the doctor said I can’t finish. So we’ll have to figure something out. And I feel very badly."
Soundwalk Collective later posted on Instagram, explaining that Smith had been dealing with severe migraines and dizziness but was receiving care from doctors. The group reassured fans that she was fine and would return to the stage for their next show.
This incident follows a similar health scare in December 2023, which forced Smith to cancel a performance in Bologna, Italy.
