PTI challenges 26th Amendment in Supreme Court

ISLAMABAD:

PTI has challenged 26th Constitutional Amendment in the Supreme Court.

The PTI petition requested the court to bar judicial commission from appointing judges till the conclusion of the case. It requested the court to declare all steps taken under the 26th Amendment as null and void.

The parliament cannot change the fundamental structure of the Constitution, the petition added.

It maintained that the independence of the judiciary is the basic aspect of the Constitution, adding no amendment can be made against the independence of the judiciary.
