Taylor Swift caught in $400M Baldoni-Lively feud—friendship gets complicated

Taylor Swift has been drawn into the escalating legal battle between her close friend Blake Lively and It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni.

The ongoing $400 million defamation lawsuit filed by Baldoni against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and others mentions a "megastar friend" believed to be Swift, according to court documents.

The lawsuit alleges civil extortion, defamation, and other charges, with Baldoni claiming Lively and her team attempted to undermine his reputation during and after the film's production. In the lawsuit, Baldoni references a contentious meeting at Lively’s penthouse, where Reynolds and the "megastar friend" reportedly praised Lively’s rewritten rooftop scene. Baldoni claims this praise was an implicit push for him to adopt Lively's version of the scene.

Purported text messages between Baldoni and Lively reveal a follow-up exchange in which Baldoni stated, “I really love what you did... (And I would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor) (WINK).” While the texts do not confirm Swift’s involvement, the reference to "Taylor" has sparked speculation given her well-documented friendship with Lively and Reynolds.

Swift and Lively’s close bond has been public since 2015, with Lively directing Swift’s I Bet You Think About Me music video and Swift referencing Lively's children in her song “Betty.” However, neither Swift nor her representatives have commented on the allegations.

As the case develops, Baldoni seeks $400 million in damages and a jury trial. Whether Swift's name becomes a focal point remains to be seen, but her alleged connection adds another layer of intrigue to an already high-profile legal battle.
