Jason Oppenheim, a celebrity realtor and star of 'Selling Sunset', has publicly denounced price-gouging landlords taking advantage of the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires.

As the fires continue to ravage areas like Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Eaton Canyon, leaving thousands displaced, some landlords have been raising rental prices far beyond legal limits.

Oppenheim shared a troubling story with BBC about a client who encountered price gouging while searching for temporary housing. The client was shown a property listed at $13,000 a month but offered $20,000 and six months' rent upfront. Despite this, the landlord demanded $23,000 a month, disregarding California's laws that prohibit rental price hikes over 10% during a state of emergency.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has responded with an executive order to combat fraud and price gouging in such circumstances. Meanwhile, Oppenheim and his agency, the Oppenheim Group, have offered to assist displaced individuals by representing them for free or crediting back any commission earned from transactions.

Luxury realtor Dylan Eckardt, known for working with high-profile clients like Justin Bieber and Rihanna, has also announced he is waiving commission fees for those affected by the fires. Since last Tuesday, the fires have claimed 16 lives.
