QUETTA:

Two separate gas leakage incidents across Balochistan on Tuesday claimed two lives and injured four others, underscoring the dangers posed by prolonged gas load-shedding and low pressure during the winter season. Quetta and most parts of Balochistan are in the grip of severe cold and dry weather.

The first incident occurred in Mastung's Killi Kongarh, where two brothers lost their lives, and two children sustained burn injuries. The room filled with gas due to an unnoticed leak caused by fluctuating pressure. Neighbors rushed to assist, moving the deceased brothers' bodies to a nearby hospital, while the injured children were transported to Quetta for treatment.

In a separate incident earlier the same day, a gas explosion in Quetta's Sirki Kalan area left a husband and wife with severe burn injuries. The blast, triggered by a gas leak, caused extensive damage to their home. The couple was taken to the Burn Unit of Civil Hospital Quetta, where they are receiving emergency care.

These tragedies are part of a growing trend in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan, where unannounced gas load-shedding and low pressure force families to rely on unsafe heating methods.
