KARACHI:

Even as we embrace the buoyancy of the new year, wedding festivities span out in full swing all over the country. Of course, with all the glamour intact. And during this wedding season in particular, white is shaping up to be the new black, seeing as some of our favourite celebrities are bringing out their sparkle in pale-toned finery.

A bridal headway

Let's start with the talk-of-the-town bride of this season - Maheen Siddiqui. Defying the traditional red associated with a Pakistani bride's big day, Maheen stunned in a white frock that drifted down the length of her figure. She also opted for a form-defining vest that glittered with ornamentation of the botanical predilection.

White sleeves peeked out with a symmetrical scatter of embroidery and beaded art. The look of daydreams was finished with a netted veil, stitched with golden flowers and laced with a patch lined with pearls. With an ensemble this regal, Maheen looked nothing short of a diamond of the first water - for those well-versed in Bridgerton lingo.

Traditional with a twist

A simple scroll through Mawra Hocane's Instagram feed should tell you all you need to know about the fluidity of her stylistic choices. Also caught in the snare of the wedding season, the 32-year-old actor had white trappings of her own to flaunt.

Underneath, Mawra's base was a simple gharara topped with a cropped blouse. But the magic came alive with the addition of layers. Shrouding the base was a dazzling mesh top that extended to the pools of her gharara. Beaded tassels poured down her elbow, adding an extra flair to the ever-elegant hanging sleeves look.

A long dupatta obeying a similar structure glided down her shoulders, bringing the attire together in satisfying harmony. The look was further embellished with dangling earrings and a wealth of white bangles, ensuring that no part of the skin was left unadorned. With sleek black hair flowing down her back, Mawra easily commanded the intrigue of any onlooker.

Twinkling confidence

Sanam Saeed has not been going easy on us with the looks, as of late. Posing like unchallenged royalty, she donned pale-shaded garments in a series like there could be no easier feat.

Her most recent ensemble is a white, front-open Kalidar on net fabric, enriched with sheesha and pearl work. It is veneered with a heavy dupatta and three layers of sharara pants, tying together an awe-inspiring display of finery.

The sartorial exhibition was amped up in an earlier post. This one had Sanam in an elaborate coat-like dress draped over a bikini blouse that was just as ornamental. Loose, winged sleeves poured down her arms like embroidered petals, finely shaped at the edges. A gleaming white choker snaked around her neck to augment the sparkling look.

To put it all in simple words, Sanam is a boss and she knows it.

Vintage never retires

Glamorous as most of the wedding season tends to be, there are mellower moments that simple statements cater well to. Yumna Zaidi understood that sentiment best with her modest yet classy ensemble.

For a close-knit "haldi" event, she put on a white peshwaz maxi that bubbled down her figure, curtaining churidar leggings and a vintage pair of paazaib, as she mentioned in her Instagram post. The soft veil of a netted dupatta slid over the top half of her dress, gently curving into her skin-tight sleeves.

The attire was elevated with jhumki and a white-and-yellow triad of gajre, pinning both her wrists and the neat updo crowning her head. Let Yumna be your reminder that you can never go wrong with unostentatious poise. Besides, white beams no matter how you wear it.
