Missing You debuted on Netflix on Wednesday, leaving viewers with plenty of questions. The new drama, based on Harlan Coben's novel of the same name, follows the success of his 2024 thriller series Fool Me Once.

All five episodes were released on the streaming platform on New Year’s Day, giving fans the opportunity to binge-watch the series.

Missing You tells the story of Detective Inspector Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar), who discovers her fiancé Josh Buchanan (Ashley Walters) on a dating app.

The twist? Kat last saw Josh, her husband-to-be, a decade ago.

Kat was on the dating app as part of her investigation into the murder of her father, police officer Clint Donovan (Lenny Henry).

Josh disappeared shortly after her father’s death, leaving no explanation behind.

By the time viewers reached the final episode, two major questions lingered: why did Josh leave, and who killed Clint?

In the fourth episode, Kat comes face to face with Josh after following a man connected to a parcel associated with him.

Although the man claimed he didn’t know Josh, he soon appeared on screen, revealing he hadn’t created the dating profile. He also confessed to discovering that Kat’s father was corrupt and not knowing how to tell her.

As the twists continued, Kat uncovered that Sergeant Ellis Stagger (Richard Armitage) had paid Monte Leburne (Marc Warren) to falsely confess to killing her father.

The final episode, Chain Reaction, revealed the shocking truth: Josh was responsible for Clint’s death.

When Kat learns of a fingerprint match on the weapon used to kill her father, Josh is forced to confess.

He explained that Clint was arguing with Aqua (Mary Malone) about his secret lover Parker. When Clint attempted to stab Aqua, Josh intervened and accidentally killed him.

Immediately after the incident, DCI Ellis Stagger arrived and stopped Josh from seeking help.

Stagger convinced Josh to let Leburne take the blame, suggesting it would allow everyone to move forward.

Josh’s guilt eventually became unbearable, leading to his disappearance.

Fans have praised Missing You, admitting they “can’t stop watching” and spent New Year’s Day bingeing the show.

The series also features several unexpected cameos that have added to its appeal.
